Level 4 HLTA Certificate
This qualification is aimed at people currently working as a teaching assistant who wish to progress to Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) status. It provides you with the knowledge and understanding to analyse and meet the challenges that classroom assistants may encounter. You
will also gain skills to work with individuals and groups, and insight into supporting learners with special educational needs. As a qualified HLTA, you will be able to significantly improve the classroom and have impact on pupil progress.

Course Requirements: You must already be a teaching assistant, paid or voluntary, and have the support of your setting and head teacher. You will need appropriate level 2 qualifications in literacy and numeracy.

The learning outcomes for the course are closely aligned to the HLTA standards.
The standards set out what you need to know, understand and be able to do in order to achieve HLTA status. There are 31 standards, grouped under three headings:
- Professional values and practice
- Knowledge and understanding
- Teaching and learning activities
You will receive 10 days of tuition at our Dillington Campus, spread over the course of 5 months.
Assessment will include your portfolio of work-based evidence and an observation in the workplace.
