Course Description:

This is a broad-based programme for anyone interested in developing multi-disciplinary skills within the animal management or conservation areas. It is also for people already working the industry who wish to enhance their career prospects.

The course concentrates on aspects of animal management and wildlife conservation associated with the habitats, behaviour, welfare and conservation issues connected to a wide range of animals in captive and natural environments. The programme is delivered by experienced teaching staff with a wide range of industry experience at University Centre Somerset’s Cannington campus.

In addition, there are a range of facilities available to support studies such as an extensive animal collection, college farm, equestrian centre and local environmental habitats such as Steart, one of the UK’s largest wetland habitats. Importantly you will be able to develop a wide range of practical skills such as behavioural monitoring, environmental/species surveying and captive enclosure management in order that you may be able to contribute to a range of management and conservation situations.
